‘Problems are a sign of life’: Life for everybody is difficult. This is one of life’s great truths. The late respected psychiatrist Dr M. Scott Peck says ‘Life is a series of problems. Do we want to moan about them or solve them?’. Whether we choose to acknowledge the fact or not we all face problems and the end result we end up with is how we respond to those problems. We need to accept them embrace them and tackle them head on; we need to give time to them.
Floor-to-ceiling patterned tile paired with terra cotta-colored grout creates a spa-like escape that pairs well with Turkish cotton towels and a relaxing bath. Love one color but not sure you can deal with a room full of it? Keep it to the shower enclosure and lay a pixel pattern of small tiles in three or four shades of the same hue.
When designing a modern space the first step is to get rid of (or at least hide) any unneeded clutter. Once the room is cleared add a few multifunctional pieces. Be sure that every element you bring in has a clearly defined purpose in addition to driving home your modern aesthetic. Carefully distribute items throughout the room so that it feels balanced.
Take the picture above for example. In it you can see that whoever designed the space has taken the time to add plenty of fresh towels a plush robe a variety of high-end soaps and lotions plus spa-like bath treatments can be found on the back wall.
Bronze is an interesting choice for your bathroom finishes because unlike many other metals it may actually get better with age. This is due to the fact that products labeled as “oil-rubbed bronze” or “hand-rubbed bronze” are not given an external finish to protect them from the elements after manufacturing. Over time use and exposure to the elements will create a unique staining pattern that deepens the aesthetic.
If you’re concerned about how to best incorporate these materials into your design without letting the design become too retro don’t fret. We’ve got the tips on how to use warm metals to create a chic aesthetic that you’ll love for a long time to come.
